Job Description Job Description Job description Responsible for performing railcar inspection and performing repairs following AAR/ FRA guidelines. Complete Billing Repair Cards (BRC) in accordance with the AAR Office Manual for each car identified with AAR/ FRA Defects. Duties include operating a cutting torch in all positions, operating power tools, D.15.1 welding certification (not required at time of hire but will be required to obtain). Must be able to perform mechanical repairs in a safe and efficient manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Inspect Railcars for damage or defects. Perform repairs in accordance with AAR/ FRA regulations. Weld and Fabricate parts as needed. Maintain and lube railcar components. Operate hand and power tools safely. Perform safety meetings and adhere to safety policies. Able to read and understand work orders, procedures and any required documentation. Communicate effectively with location contacts to ensure safe operations and scheduling. Perform additional duties as assigned. Education and Experience: High School Graduate or Equivalent. Rail Industry experience preferred but not required. Work Environment: Exposure to outside weather conditions and elements, noise, fumes, dirt and grease.
