Position Title: Laboratory Technician Pay Rate: $51,000 - $68,000 Multiple factors, including individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range. PL Range: 5 Category/Shift: Salaried Full-Time Non-Exempt (Overtime Eligible)/Monday – Friday 8hr Schedule Physical Location: Pine Hill Mill (Pine Hill, AL) The Job You Will Perform (including but not limited to): The Lab Technician is a member of the Environmental, Health and Safety Group and reports to the Environmental Manager at the Pine Hill Mill. This role provides laboratory testing for mill operations, performs environmental compliance testing, maintains testing supplies and equipment, and analyzes results to identify problems and recommend improvements. The job requires knowledge of standard lab test procedures and methods, execution of field sampling, calculation of test results, verification of accurate results and timely communication of test results to applicable personnel with little or no direct supervision. Additional responsibilities may include: Independently performing non-routine experiments and lab work Assisting with mill trials Writing technical reports with a summary, conclusions and recommendations Helping train other technicians Identifying and leading implementation of constructive change within work area Interpreting data trends using graphs and correlations with process knowledge Completing river studies The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work with all mill employees as needed to promote and achieve a safe workplace. The individual will have good written and oral skills. The successful candidate, under the direction of the Environmental Manager, will work with mill management to develop specific objectives aimed at improving mill performance in the EHS&S area.
