Purpose of the role: Under the guidance of the HR Manager in Derbyshire, the HR Officer will serve as a business partner and be a key member of the Human Resources Team. You will develop an effective, engaging, and proactive working partnership with first line managers and colleagues to ensure the provision of timely, professional, and effective HR related advice within Company policy and legal requirements. Working hours are Monday – Friday 08:00 – 17:00. Potential for flexibility, working hours can be discussed further at the interview stage. This is a predominately office-based role but there may be a requirement for you to go within the factory environment. Your key responsibilities as a HR Officer will include: Employee Relations Being responsible for employee relations activities giving appropriate HR advice on key issues such as disciplinary, grievance, and capability, in line with current employment law and company policies/procedures. Supporting managers in disciplinary, grievance, and appeal hearings, including involvement in investigations, guiding and advising the Manager during the hearing, taking notes, and confirming the outcome of the hearing. Taking a proactive approach, leading regular meetings with key stakeholders to address any upcoming issues. Ensuring managers understand company policies and procedures. Ensuring managers apply these policies and procedures fairly and consistently, in line with good practice and legislative requirements whilst meeting business needs. Making recommendations for improvements in process and practices. Absence Management Ensuring consistent and robust application of the attendance procedure in line with the absence policy. Leading the case review process, in conjunction with the Health&Wellness team, providing effective advice and guidance on all absence management cases. Liaising with the Health&Wellness team and occupational health specialists as required. Working with managers to meet their KPI targets for reducing absence levels. Headcount/Recruitment Working with relevant department managers to manage headcount requirements including actual vs planned heads and identify vacancies, and review skilled roles in line with the succession plan. Working with the resourcing team to ensure the recruitment of colleagues against headcount requirements in a timely manner. Assisting with the recruitment of skilled and managerial roles, alongside the resourcing team. Communication / Engagement Producing and managing KPI information and reporting at relevant meetings. Acting as point of contact for colleague queries/issues, where applicable refer colleagues to relevant processes to be followed. Supporting the Avara in the Community initiative through the facilitation of activities via the Community group, including engagement with local schools. What we are looking for: The ability to demonstrate an up-to-date knowledge of employment law. CIPD qualified or part qualified at Level 5. Experience of working within a manufacturing or fast-paced organisation in a HR role. A high level of personal integrity demonstrating respect and empathy. Skills and Abilities Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels. Methodical approach to work with attention to detail whilst working at pace. Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work under own initiative. Ability to handle conflict/confrontation effectively. Time management with an ability to identify and focus on priorities in a varied role. Up-to-date experience and confident in usage of Microsoft Office and HR packages.
