We are looking for smart scientists capable of using a variety of domain expertise to invent, design, evangelize, and implement state-of-the-art solutions for never-before-solved problems in the space of Automated Reasoning and Artificial Intelligence. A successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. As an Applied Scientist, you will own the design and development of end-to-end systems. You’ll have the opportunity to write technical white papers, create technical roadmaps, and drive production level projects that will support Amazon Science. You will work closely with other Amazon scientists and engineers. The ideal scientist must have the ability to work with diverse groups of people and cross-functional teams to solve sometimes ambiguous and complex business problems. Key job responsibilities: Develop systems that can be used for automated software analysis and artificial intelligence. Develop core tools and algorithms that can be reused. Help lead the development of new ideas and mentor individuals. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS PhD, or Master's degree and 4 years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience. 3 years of building models for business application experience. Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals. Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language. Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience using Unix/Linux. Experience in professional software development. Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
