Veterinary Technician - Specialty Anesthesia Technician Job Category: Veterinary Assistants&Technicians Requisition Number: VETER003394 Full Time 40hrs a week, no weekends $10k Sign on Bonus for eligible new hires Locations Angell - Boston 350 South Huntington Avenue Boston, MA 02130, USA THE POSITION: The primary responsibility of the Specialty Anesthesia Technician is to provide anesthesia support for the surgeon you are assigned to in the surgery department. When not performing anesthesia for your assigned surgeon, you will assist the other surgeons in the surgery department as well as the anesthesia service. You will practice the highest quality of anesthetic monitoring care for the patients of the MSPCA and work in conjunction with a team of doctors, technicians, and visitors maintaining a positive enthusiastic attitude in this fast-paced team-oriented environment. You must be reliable, independent, able to multitask, and excel in interpersonal communication skills. Some Responsibilities Include: Perform all anesthesia cases for your assigned surgeon with guidance from the anesthesiologists. Utilize technical and clinical knowledge learned in order to effectively assess, monitor, and stabilize all surgical cases. Demonstrate and model advanced anesthesia skills. Communicate and work closely with all staff members and visitors. Assist in the training process for new and current employees. Physical Requirements: Able to stoop, bend, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods of time. Able to move patients weighing up to 22 kgs repeatedly; over 22 kgs with assistance. APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS: We are looking for applicants with at least 3 years of veterinary technician/assistant experience in an anesthesia-exclusive environment. Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) required for a technician role. As this position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, we require applicants to include a cover letter showcasing your writing skills. Qualifications Skills Preferred Advanced Behaviors Motivations Education Required Associates or better in Veterinary Technology or related field. Experience Required Applicants must have technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, intubation, anesthesia, and CPR procedures. 3 years: Minimum of 3 years of experience in an anesthesia-exclusive role. Preferred Work experience in a fast-paced, multi-veterinarian hospital, emergency/referral practice, or veterinary teaching hospital is preferred. J-18808-Ljbffr
