About us The mission of the Boys&Girls Club of Paterson and Passaic is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. The Boys&Girls Club of Paterson and Passaic offers a safe, wholesome after school environment for kids age 5 through 18 to have fun and learn. During summer months, a day camp is offered. Our professional staff and team of dedicated volunteers deliver a comprehensive array of high quality educational, social, and recreational programs. UNIT DIRECTOR Reports to: Chief Program Officer ____________________________________________________________________________________ POSITION SUMMARY: Type: Part-time Hours: 1:00 pm to 6:30 pm Directs and manages the overall daily operations of the designated Unit with the primary concern for programs and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, compliance with Office of Licensing regulations, facilities and budget management, community relations and membership administration to ensure the proper and safe operation of after-school programming. Maintains daily contact with program and administrative staff to interpret and explain organizational mission and standards; discuss issues and provide/receive feedback. Maintains contact with external community and school representatives, members' parents and others to assist in managing programs and to market/promote the Club. RESPONSIBILITES: · Oversee activities and services that prepare youth for success and create an outcome-driven Club experience that facilitates achievement of youth development outcomes. · Overall responsibility for cleanliness, a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained. · Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation. · Provide leadership, direction and supervision for part-time staff in all areas of program development · Attend and participate in meetings and trainings to keep site advised of issues. · Develop weekly program curriculum for assigned staff to implement. · Recruit, manage and provide career development opportunities for site staff and conduct regular staff meetings. · Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders and organizations. · Develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the community. · Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan. · Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in the Employee Handbook, Ethics Policy, Policies/Procedures Manual and elsewhere. · Assume other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: · The successful candidate will have at least an Associates Degree and three years of youth development experience or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. · A minimum of three year’s prior work experience in a Boys&Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience. ABILITIES: · Demonstrated ability to supervise personnel, facilities management and the recruitment and retention of key personnel. · Demonstrated history of dependable work ethic and punctuality is required in order to consistently meet the needs of member service requirements. · Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. · Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff. · Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems. · Working knowledge of reporting requirements, budget preparation, accounting principles and financial management. · Demonstrated ability in working collaboratively with young people, parents and community leaders. · Must have considerable knowledge of the policies, program and procedures of Boys&Girls Clubs, or of the principles and practices of similar nonprofit organizations. Must have knowledge of the state childcare laws and regulations and must demonstrate the ability to lead and manage staff members in serving youth and families.
