Overview The Branch Operations Risk Office is responsible for overseeing the department's business risk by providing oversight and guidance. The Risk Office serves as the primary liaison for Compliance, Internal Audit, Security, business continuity, and third-party risk. Reporting to the Risk Office is the Operational Risk team, which collaborates with business partners to implement Branch Operations' strategy for achieving operational soundness while maintaining a high-quality service experience. This is achieved through quality assurance, procedural monitoring, policy review, and strategic development while supporting corporate initiatives to maintain an acceptable risk environment. The objectives of the Branch Operations Risk Office are to: Enhance risk strategy Embed risk management in our day-to-day business Monitor and enhance controls to improve performance results Optimize risk management functions The Summer Associate will: Assist with development and maintenance of Power BI dashboards for quality assurance, routine monitoring, and other risk management activities Leverage data to identify trends and opportunities to reduce departmental risk Identify and implement process improvements for internal workstreams Provide data visualization support for new dashboards, reports, and team presentations The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2025 and ending in August 2025. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 or later. Responsibilities Follow standard procedures to create and/or update basic reports and dashboards Identify trends or patterns and help prepare ongoing reports and data visualizations in order to support business decisions Contribute to reports that show key performance indicators, identify areas of improvement into current operations, and display root cause analysis of problems Partner with leaders and senior staff to define specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and required or available data elements Support and participate in team projects and initiatives Utilize and adhere to data governance documents and procedures; alert supervisor if an inconsistency or inaccuracy is discovered during the course of reporting or analysis Communicate and deliver review results to business partners and other stakeholders Maintain clear and organized documentation of review data, status, results, and completion date Qualifications Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Business Administration or other related degree Familiarity with business intelligence applications and/or cloud services Familiarity with reporting capabilities of PowerBI and Azure Data Studio Familiarity with querying and/or programming for data analysis Basic understanding of visualization&reporting components Knowledge of statistical methods, mathematical techniques, forecasting, cost-benefit analysis Effective analytical, research, and problem-solving skills Strong communication and collaborative skills Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across the organization Experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals About Us Navy Federal provides much more than a job.
