Job Description
THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN Fort Laramie, WY with an anticipated start date of May 6th, 2024 - 5 Month Duration. As a Structural Welder, you will weld, fabricate, and assist Pipe Fitters and Ironworkers in the installation of varying types of equipment and supports for industrial pipe, structural, and mechanical systems. Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Adhere to all safety rules and regulations. Weld using multiple processes on various types of material. Successfully pass a weld test. Observe and recognize problems during the welding process and adjust speed, voltage, amperage, or feed of the rod accordingly. Read and interpret prints and plans. Knowledge of AWS D1.1 criteria. Fit-up and layout experience on structural/misc. steel and pipe spools. Properly use fabrication hand tools (grinders, drills, air tools, band saws, etc.). Properly use Oxy/fuel and plasma hand cutting torch. Operate forklifts, manlifts, and other types of equipment. Rig, hoist/lift, and move materials. Requirements: Ability to take detailed instruction. Willingness to be challenged to improve welding skills to meet high-quality standards. Ability to read and understand weld symbols, weld procedures, mechanical and structural drawings. Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and safe work practices. Daily housekeeping of shop and/or work area. Flexible working schedule to support project needs. Considered a Plus: Experience with machine equipment such as mill or drill press. Pipe welding experience with ASME B31.3, B31.4, and API 1104 codes. Familiarity with weld inspections, inspection documentation, and NDE (RT, UT, MT, PT). Formal/technical education.
