Staff Nurse I - Labor&Delivery Department Hiring Department : Staff Nurse I - Labor&Delivery Department Location : Chicago, IL USA Requisition ID : 1025928 Posting Close Date : 07/12/2024 FTE : .90 Description: Position Summary Staff Nurse I is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework. The Staff Nurse I provides direct patient care and takes initiative to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. Through therapeutic relationships with patients, families, self and colleagues, the Staff Nurse I functions as an interdisciplinary team member who provides quality patient care and fulfills unit and organizational goals. Duties&Responsibilities Completes required orientation program and unit-specific competencies. Develops, implements, and updates the patient’s plan of care based on ongoing assessment of the patient and input from the patient’s family. Shares information and collaborates with other members of the health care team to promote effective patient care. Verifies and implements orders from physician, physician assistant, and/or advance practice nurse by performing interventions as prescribed by the provider and documenting accurately in the electronic medical record. Engages and obtains information from patient and/or family to develop an appropriate patient educational plan. Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities and responds to patient’s changing needs. Engages support personnel by delegating appropriate tasks per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provides support and feedback. Demonstrates a commitment to UI Health’s values through teamwork and effective communication in an effort to achieve quality outcomes, patient safety, customer satisfaction and a clean, safe and therapeutic environment. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation. Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit specific certifications. Minimum one year of Labor and Delivery experience. Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between patients, family, and health care providers. Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training. Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills and work history required. NRP and ACLS will need to be acquired during orientation. Basic EFM training/certificate needs to be acquired during orientation. Ability to obtain AWHONN intermediate/advanced fetal monitoring certification.
