Sr. Director, Ocean Operation&Customs Brokerage Apply locations Schaumburg, IL posted on Posted 3 Days Ago job requisition id R-100439 Job Description: KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE: Full product P&L responsibility for Ocean and CHB for the region. (This is a NR P&L and an assimilation of product P&L’s within the region) Oversee the region’s product performance, actual versus budget and propose steps to address any issues associated with major variations in line with respective product managers. Support SVP’s in customer related activities, such as sales calls, review meetings, and related presentations. Ensure product provides pricing guideline for trade lanes that are owned, ensure complete and validated RFQ submissions for respective trade lanes (based on trade lane ownership). Establish volume and P&L budgets in line with the globally agreed guidelines and cascade to Ocean Managers in region. Provide Leadership for the Operational development in Ocean and CHB Operations for short, immediate, and long-term business development strategies for key customers. Operational: Manage and agree allocation&escalation with carriers (based on carrier ownership). Lead in establishing SOP’s to ensure best operational performances and customer satisfaction in line with Global Operational Excellence Process. Develops recommended strategy to implement and monitor improvement programs in cost reduction, revenue growth, quality improvement, safety and best practices across established and new contracts. Develop, foster and grow positive and professional relationships with executive level customers and colleagues. Provide leadership in coaching, mentoring, personnel selection, professional development and oversight of operations management within company guidelines. Lead and manage business case justification for capital and the deployment / allocation of existing and new assets. Direct and manage multiple high-volume logistics/supply chain operations within a given industry or region. Accountable to maximize profitability through superior customer service, effective and prompt communications and follow-up on all pending customer matters. Full accountability for P&L of sites in area of responsibility. Review, analyse and present management and financial reports, budgets, expense reports and forecasts for facilities under responsibility to Senior Leadership. Personally coach, train and mentor direct reports and provide career development opportunities through training and quality management activities. Sets department priorities on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis and plans the work of department and the assignments to meet customer deadlines. Assigns work to supervisory staff. Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace. Comply with instructions given for their own safety and health and that of others, in adhering to safe work procedures. Co-operate with management in its fulfilment of its legislative obligations. Other duties as assigned by management. REQUIREMENTS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex data reports. Decisive individual with ‘big picture’ perspective. Diverse management experiences and responsibilities to include working in multiple countries with multiple cultures. Proven effective experience in a matrix environment. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate people to achieve breakthrough improvements. Strong Organizational skills (able to remain organized and effective while traveling). Effective engagement and relationship skills to influence and execute activities that drive Ocean and CHB performance. PC literate. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific applications. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate both upwards to senior executives and downward to the lowest level of the shop floor. EDUCATION&EXPERIENCE: Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain Management required; or an equivalent combination of work experience and completion of the LDP Program. Minimum ten years related ocean Industry experience required. Minimum eight years customs brokerage experience required. Minimum eight years supervisory or management experience required.
