Software Engineer (supporting NASA) AFHC-26797 Posting Location: NASA/AMES, MOFFETT FIELD-CA026 Functional Group: Information Technology Job Description: ASRC Federal Data Solutions (AFDS) provides comprehensive IT services to NASA Ames Research Center located in Mountain View, CA. We are looking for a Software Engineer to be a part of our operations on the Ames Consolidated Information Technology Services (ACITS) contract and provide support to the Human Systems Integration Division at NASA Ames. The successful candidate will provide development support to maintain the Airspace Operations Laboratory (AOL) capabilities. The Airspace Operations Laboratory labor requirements are to support the Real-Time UTM Simulation Environment (RUSE) and NAS Exploratory Concepts and Technologies (NExCT) Projects. The RUSE Project will enable researchers to test new UTM concepts in a realistic simulation environment with photorealistic visualizations, integrating with other simulation services across multiple NASA Centers. This role requires two full-time resources to help develop interactive 3D environments using tools like Unity or Unreal Engine, preferably for aircraft or other aerospace applications. The NExCT Project aims to develop extensible Traffic Management (xTM) airspace management technologies while minimizing the impact to current air traffic management, developing scalable traffic management systems for seamless introduction of new entrants while minimizing impact on current operations, and enabling autonomous xTM operations where human-centric operations are not scalable. The NExCT project requires help with the goal of developing sharding techniques for distributed data. This successful candidate will work directly with researchers, NASA management, and other stakeholders to ensure requirements meet the needs of the research and end users. Background or interest in Aeronautics, Human Systems Interaction, or AOL research areas is useful/desirable. Responsibilities: Provides support to maintain project goals and meet required project deadlines. Support includes software development for projects, activities, conferences, workshops, and other scientific working activities and sessions. Maintains aeronautics knowledge of project needs, logistics, and communication assisting project team success. General support for AOL tests and experiments as needed. Enhancements for traffic management and air mobility systems and simulation capabilities. General Air Traffic Control (ATC) familiarity to provide support for the development and testing of advanced air traffic management concepts and technologies. Requirements: 0-2 years of experience. Education may be used in lieu of experience. Proficient in C++/Python with experience in Java. Eligibility to work in the US (Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident).
