The Impact You’ll Make in this Role As a Senior Specialist Product Development, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Architecting and advancing new technology platforms and developments for prioritized growth markets Initiating key product development initiatives based on these platforms and assuming product owner leadership Creating technology and product roadmaps based on collaboration with global customers and colleagues Coordinating and leading our technical efforts to establish digital product platforms with associated online and data services Architecting intellectual property positions via invention submissions, patents and 3M trade secrets. Leading interactions with Corporate, Business Group and Division labs to identify new technologies, digital/electronic components and tools to be applied to the Energy Market Leading technically and mentoring other team members and contributing to knowledge sharing within the team. Interfacing with cross-functional team members (marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, technical service, quality, regulatory, etc) to ensure successful program delivery. Developing and commercializing products to efficiently, reliably and sustainably deliver energy to customers around the world. Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Advanced degree e.g. MS or PhD in Engineering or Science discipline like Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Data or Computer Science or Physics (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution Ten (10) years of experience with new technology development with proven track record of new product introductions Five (5) years of experience spent on products with software enabled elements Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: Experience with sensor&electronic system architectures Experience with common software architectures and relevant software technologies Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) Knowledge of machine learning and advanced data analytics Experience with technical building blocks of hardware and software solutions to enable new business solutions including digital services Experience with Strategy and Business Development in technology focused companies or institutions Experience with electrical power grids, control technologies and associated equipment Interest to learn about and develop solutions for the electrical grids of the future Work location: Austin, TX Site Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international Relocation Assistance: May be authorized Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
