Job Title: Scientist, Project Engineering Job Code: 17678 Job Location: Multiple locations available, work must be done onsite, relocation can be provided for those that qualify Job Description: Professional Expert Project Engineering Staff for the IMS Segment Project Engineering Center of Excellence (CoE), reporting to the IMS Director of Project Engineering. The role is focused on: Troubled program deep-dives (EAC Analysis&opportunity maximization), independent technical reviews, proposal technical&cost reviews, and expert consulting Project Engineering policy, process, procedures, work-instructions, training development&deployment Assist with PE Strategy development (org. design, emerging tools/technologies, deployment planning&follow-through) Other opportunities as assigned/on-behalf of the IMS Director, Project Engineering. The successful candidate will need to be a change agent to help strengthen the engineering rigor of the organization by working collaboratively with other CoEs and within various IMS businesses to ensure strong execution of engineering work across IRADs, pursuits, and programs. This leader will be expected to display a strategic mindset and possess strong project planning, business/financial acumen, excellent judgment, be a forward thinker, have strong communications skills and a high initiative/bias for action. Strong sensitivity to the enterprise financial forces, organizational dynamics, and influence pathways is critical to success. Essential Functions: Develop objectives, roadmap, and plans to achieve IMS PE Team Key Results, Initiatives, and Tiger-Team-Type PE corrective actions Develop and articulate business cases for objectives and initiatives Provide subject matter expertise to independent reviews of pursuits, programs, and PE Discipline across the Segment Identify the need for, develop, build consensus, publish, transition, and monitor PE command media Partner with Segment and CHQ engineering leadership in the development and execution of business, interfacing regularly with the program leadership team and other cross-functional members of the IMS leadership team Collaborate with peers/counterparts in other segments to partner on initiatives, leverage PE best practices, and enact economies-of-scale benefits across the L3Harris Enterprise Willingness to coach and mentor high-potential PE engineers Willingness to travel up to 25% (annual average) Must be able to obtain a DoD Security clearance Qualifications: Requires mastery level knowledge within a specific technical area or multiple job areas typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. Viewed as an expert and/or resource within the field by peers in and outside the organization. Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. Experience with the one or more of the following areas is required:Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering Systems Engineering Project Engineering Leadership - Task or IPT Leader and/or Functional Management EVMS Practitioner Competency US Citizenship. Preferred Additional Skills: Business degree (BS, MBA) highly desirable Aerospace and Defense experience outside L3Harris highly desirable Capture and Proposal Development Entire Program/Engineering Life Cycle Phases and Activities Demonstrated strategic mindset and possess strong project planning, business/financial acumen, excellent judgment, forward thinking, with excellent communications skills, and a high initiative/bias for action Able to work in a multi-level complex project schema—navigating a vague and broad space, to define plans and options, ensure alignment of all stakeholders across sites, division, sector, segment, and corporate teams. Experience leading functional engineering scope, with demonstrated success in managing remote work across geographically dispersed teams. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
