The Department is a leader in cutting-edge research and innovative educational programs.The Department employs over 50 professors pursuing research in all areas of chemistry and biochemistry. The goals of this research include synthesizing complex natural products and new nano-materials required to solve the many health and environmental crises facing our planet, and illuminating the molecular mechanisms that regulate the decoding of genetic information. Salary&Compensation UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications Demonstrated skill and knowledge of financial management principles, complex budget preparation and reporting, and budget analysis techniques. (Required) Demonstrated working knowledge of University's financial/accounting and other administrative policies and procedures with a high degree of accuracy. (Preferred) Working knowledge of UCLA graduate student employment policies and procedures, fellowship funding policies, and collective bargaining agreement (CBA) terms. (Preferred) Experience working as a Student Services Officer, working with the Division of Graduate Education (DGE), and/or consulting with Employee Labor Relations. (Preferred) Working knowledge of departmental and institutional policies and procedures. Specifically:Familiarity with GAAP, Uniform GuidanceUCLA Policies and Procedures ManualsGift Policy Administration rulesPurchasing Policies and ProceduresPayroll Policies and Procedures (Preferred) Demonstrated working knowledge and experience with UCLA Purchasing and Accounts Payable system, Financial System, Transfer of Funds, Query Database (QDB) financial reporting, Direct Deposit of Funds, Monetary Transfer of Funds, Post Audit Notification, Non Payroll Expenditure Adjustments, Payroll Transfers, and Campus Budgeting Information Gateway (CBIG) annual process and procedures. (Preferred) Demonstrated knowledge and experience with recharge billing and sales and services revenue guidelines. (Required) Demonstrated knowledge of the payroll/personnel systems as related to accounting and financial management. (Required) Demonstrated skill in preparing budgets and projections using spreadsheets and databases. Ability to design, execute, and maintain complex spreadsheets. (Required) Excellent analytical skills and ability to assess financial information, anticipate problems, make recommendations, develop solutions, and implement changes. (Required) Ability to work independently and effectively with changing priorities and competing deadlines. (Required) Excellent communication skills to obtain and convey information professionally with diplomacy and clarity. Ability to respond to and maintain a congenial, helpful attitude when faced with difficult situations and to respond with sensitivity and diplomacy.
