Keating is an innovative company and industry leader. We have an exciting opportunity to join our team in the role of Quality Control Manager. The Quality Control Manager works closely with DOT officials and meeting with customers onsite. In addition to driving continuous improvement, this is a key position within the leadership team working with all lines of business. The Quality Control Manager must have exceptional communication skills and be able to deal with complex issues in a fast-paced work environment. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Provide leadership and coaching to develop and sustain a team supporting our core values Safety, Quality and Integrity. Development, implementation, and maintenance of a companywide quality control plan and an effective organization to address the needs of the aggregate crushing plant operations, HMA production operations, and construction operations. Development, implementation, and maintenance of laboratory Quality System Manual that ensures: Integrity and accuracy of test records test procedures The training and evaluation of technicians The calibration of testing equipment Approve purchases of Laboratory testing equipment The safe operation of the laboratory and personnel in the laboratory. Supervise and evaluate the QC Engineers and Technicians. Meet with and facilitate communication between Crushing, HMA Plant and Paving personnel and Quality Control Personal. Develop projections annually and periodically to determine aggregate and binder demands in a cost-efficient manner. Review weekly and monthly paving schedules. Evaluate and review/approve all mix designs. Experience working with RAS/RAP. Collect and analyze aggregate and HMA production data and construction data. Actively participate in state and regional committees that improve the quality of pavement. Conduct forensic investigations of pavements exhibiting premature distress and recommend a cost-effective remediation strategy for these pavements. Adhere to all state and federal regulations, if applicable, as set forth by the US Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), or any other regulatory agency. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.E.) from four-year college or university; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. NETTCP certified in HMA Plant and Paving Technician Classification and QAT certification is a requirement. General Requirements Ability to read English language sufficiently to read information contained in specifications, reports, manuals and regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, staff, customers and the general public. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to carry out standardized laboratory tests in accordance with ASTM and AASHTO standards. Knowledge and understanding of basic operating procedures and mechanics of an asphalt plant and crushers. Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations pertaining to, but not limited to, safety, the environment and transportation. Ability to detect safety hazards and malfunctions and respond accordingly. Ability to operate a two-way radio. General knowledge of soils and construction. Must possess a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation to and from the job site.
