Performs property tax research to solve complex problems associated with most functions in the assessment and collection of ad valorem taxes. For more information, please click here Carries out assessment and collection functions associated with property tax billing and payments, delinquent payments, bankruptcy payments, special and rollback calculations and payments, and refunds and tax account research. Extensively communicates and interacts with other tax office and appraisal district staff, businesses, title and mortgage companies, and individual taxpayers to perform duties. Resolves tax problems in person or over the phone. Researches tax questions and provides appropriate responses. Answers questions from clerks. Responsible for accurate files and filing. Ensures accuracy of funds collected and posting of transactions to accounts. Accountable for funds collected. Will be required to rotate responsibilities on a routine basis. Performs all other related duties as assigned. NOTE: You must fill out the work history and education sections of the application to show you have years of experience/education as required by the hiring department or be disqualified. High school diploma or GED. Two (2) full-time years of general office or retail experience. Prefer experience with electronic payment processing and knowledge of credit card and e-check processing. Experience with business machines, computers, and basic business math is desired. Knowledge of property tax processing is desired. Employees may be required to work at any of the Tax Office locations. If hired, you must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing. Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include financial history reports, motor vehicle records, employment records, and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.
