Job Description Job Description POSITION: Project Coordinator SUPERVISOR: Director of Nutrition Services STATUS: Hourly/Non-Exempt PAY RANGE: $33.00 Hourly This position is funded through the LA Food Equity Fund and concludes on February 28, 2026. Continuation beyond this period is not guaranteed and will depend on the availability of funding and project needs, which will be reassessed near the conclusion of the grant term. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS As part of the Nutrition Services department, the Project Coordinator plays a crucial role in leading the implementation, supervision, and expansion of nutrition education initiatives, including the Nutrition Pantry Program (NPP). This position manages the planning and execution of nutrition education events, oversees the development and delivery of training, and ensures compliance with program goals and grant requirements. Additionally, the role involves building and maintaining partnerships with agency partners, stakeholders, and community organizations to enhance program reach and foster new opportunities. WHAT YOU’LL DO Nutrition Education Implementation and Supervision: Become certified and fully versed in NPP implementation and all departmental project goals, objectives, activities, and expected outcomes. Manage, plan, and execute virtual and in-person nutrition education events, including classes, recipe demonstrations, cooking video production, and NPP Train the Trainer requirements. Under the guidance of the Director of Nutrition Services, coach and lead Health Educators in the preparation and delivery of quality nutrition education activities. Design, develop, upload, and manage training for the learning management system for NPP Ambassadors, Promotoras, and pantry staff to increase nutrition education and sustain NPP best practices. Organize and manage quantitative and qualitative data for reporting and evaluating program outcomes. Document and report on program activities, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and contributing to program evaluation and continuous improvement. Develop and manage curricula for various programs targeting diverse audiences, such as children, seniors, and individuals facing food and nutrition insecurity. Help maintain department inventory, including nutrition handouts, cookbooks, food demonstration supplies, and cooking and recording equipment. Assist the Nutrition Services Manager in expanding and developing best practices for the Nutrition Pantry Program (NPP). Support the Director of Nutrition Services in advancing initiatives, such as the Food Bank Nutrition Center and Employee Health and Wellness Program. Regularly review program activities to ensure they align with the Food Bank’s standards for education, cultural relevance, and inclusivity. Partnership Development: Secure and maintain relationships with agency/pantry partners, including pantry administrators, NPP ambassadors, Promotoras, and customers. Collaborate with the Nutrition Services Manager to enhance NPP resources and other agency/pantry initiatives. Work with key stakeholders, including funding partners and community organizations, to help pantries locate and leverage resources. Regularly update and communicate with stakeholders on program developments, changes, or new partnership opportunities. Represent the Food Bank and the Nutrition Services department at events, fairs, and conferences to foster new partnerships and raise awareness about programs. Nutrition Services Department Objectives: Assist the Director of Nutrition Services in advancing departmental initiatives such as the LARFB Nutrition Center and Employee Wellness Program. Stay informed about issues related to nutrition insecurity, culinary medicine, food bank operations, etc., and actively participate in committees or workgroups supporting the department and LARFB's overall mission and goals. QUALIFICATIONS Master's Degree in Nutrition Sciences, Public Health, Public Administration, or a related field. OR Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition Sciences, Public Health, Public Administration, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in project coordination, health education, or community-based program implementation. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Health Educator or in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education is required. A minimum of 2-3 years of supervisory experience is required. Bilingual in Spanish, written and spoken, is required. Demonstrated ability to engage teams and individuals, organize and analyze information with attention to detail and accuracy. Experience providing administrative oversight, assessment and evaluation, community engagement, and program implementation in underserved communities, with a minimum of one year of experience in implementing nutrition education and obesity prevention programs. Effective presentation skills and the ability to communicate nutrition concepts to diverse audiences. Excellent interpersonal skills, acts with professionalism and cultural sensitivity with all stakeholders. Excellent project management skills including planning, organizing and effective time management. Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, remotely and in-person, and deliver under pressure. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Google platform (Google Docs, Sheets, etc.). Experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere) and graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) preferred. Experience with the development of course and training materials preferred. Experience with learning management systems (e.g. TalentLMS) preferred. Availability to work evenings and weekends when necessary. Ability to engage in considerable physical activity, lift and/or push up to 50 pounds, and stand on feet for long periods of time. Valid CA Driver’s License and access to a reliable and insured vehicle. Required to travel within Los Angeles County to assigned agency/pantry sites. May be scheduled to work at either facility in Los Angeles, CA, or the City of Industry, CA. May need to commute between Food Bank facilities in Los Angeles, CA, or the City of Industry, CA.
