Basic Requirements: Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States. Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. Licensure&Registration: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Residency Training: Physicians must have completed an Emergency Medicine Residency Training Program, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Board Certification: Board Certification in Emergency Medicine is required. English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English. Physical Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment physical examination as required by VA Handbook 5019. This position requires moderate lifting up to 44 lbs., carrying objects up to 15 lbs., frequent reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, hands and legs, walking&standing up to 8 hours, bending and climbing. Duties: Perform assessments/examinations on encounters with all presenting patients. Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests. Provide Attending Physician oversight to residents, mid-level providers, and students. Stabilize all critically ill or injured patients. Assist with Pandemic, Emergency and Mass Casualty response plan. Admit patients to the hospital or discharge them from the ED with appropriate follow-up. Discuss treatment plan with patient and or family/caregiver. Participate in Quality Assurance, chart reviews, and support applicable ED performance measures. Coordinate patient care with consultants as deemed appropriate. Work Schedule: This is a Nocturnal tour of duty from 11:00 pm - 7:00 am. J-18808-Ljbffr
