The provider will operate from client-maintained facilities and clinics, providing urgent/ emergent care to injured/ ill workforce as well as occupational medical care to on-site employees. The offsite physician back-up support is in Anchorage. Medically Reports To: Medical Director Administratively Reports To: VP of Medical&Safety Schedule: This position will work rotational shifts: (3 weeks on / 3 weeks off); Employee responsible for travel to/from home state to Anchorage, Alaska. Employer provides transportation from Anchorage, AK to work site. All meals, all lodging, and some additional amenities are included during your weeks on the job. Essential Job Functions: Duties include primary healthcare, emergency medical response, first aid training and promotion of lifestyle issues including fitness and healthy eating. In addition, this role supports client specific occupational health services such as performing audiograms, pulmonary function tests, respirator mask fit tests, regulated and non-regulated drug and alcohol testing. The successful candidate will also provide support with health and hygiene inspections and advising on other safety issues, in addition to general administration and computer-based reporting. Primary Responsibilities: Responds to emergency situations. This includes routine minor illness, medical emergencies, and trauma. Builds volunteer medical response teams. Directs triage, patient transport, and medical supervision at mass casualty incidents. Interfaces with other response team sections. Maintains readiness of emergency equipment and supplies. Determines the need for emergency air evacuation of seriously ill or injured patients to appropriate medical centers in Anchorage and Fairbanks. Diagnoses and treats illnesses and injuries of the workforce according to collaborative agreement with the supervising physicians. Conducts laboratory and electro-cardiograph diagnostic procedures as required. Refers patients to appropriate consulting physicians within Alaska when required. Prescribes and dispenses appropriate pharmaceuticals including controlled substances as approved by the supervising physician, within the scope of the collaborative agreement and in accordance with DEA regulations. Leads weekly training sessions of the Medical Emergency Response Team. Maintains medical records according to company policies and expected standards of medical practice. This includes but is not limited to injury reporting, completion/review of medical forms, and maintenance of statistical logs. Job Requirements - Education and Training: Current BLS and ACLS certification 7 years remote experience or emergency medicine experience Professional certification with NCCPA or AANP Graduate of an American Medical Association accredited PA training program Arctic work experience beneficial Must possess a valid driver's license Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) certification preferred Physical Demands and Work Conditions: Work conditions are such that significant time will be spent walking, standing, stooping, sitting, assisting with positioning patients, and include some lifting. Exposure to anesthetic gases, blood and body fluids, sharps, and other health care occupational hazards is routine. Conditions will include exposure to hospital grade cleaning solutions, flammable solutions and gases, e.g., alcohol and oxygen, as well as latex and other industrial chemicals.
