Northern Light A.R. Gould Department: Physical Therapy Position is located: Northern Light A.R. Gould Hospital Work Type: Full Time Hours Per Week: 40.00 Work Schedule: 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Summary: A graduate staff physical therapist is responsible for providing skilled physical therapy services to patients throughout the Hospital's acute care floors, Continuing Care Mars Hill skilled nursing floors, long term care floors, and outpatients. This involves evaluation, treatment, and instruction to detect, assess, prevent, correct, and alleviate physical disabilities and pain. The therapist will administer and evaluate tests for treatment planning and provide consultative and educational services. They must possess adequate preparation through an accredited Physical Therapy program and complete the supervisor affidavit for the State of Maine. The therapist is expected to see patients and utilize professional judgment in all aspects of care, from critical care to outpatient services, while demonstrating the ability to multitask and uphold the highest quality of care. Responsibilities: Assess patients' functional deficits, plan treatment, and implement it in compliance with professional standards. Examine, diagnose, and treat conditions that limit bodily movement and function. Participate in the recruitment of new therapists. Attend team meetings and communicate/collaborate with team members, individuals, families, or caregivers. Terminate treatment when maximal benefits have been attained and develop appropriate discharge plans. Maintain records and documentation as required by practice setting, third-party payers, and regulatory agencies, ensuring all notes are co-signed by the licensed physical therapist. Schedule and prioritize workload. Monitor own performance and identify supervisory needs. Function according to the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Supervise support staff. Ensure the licensed physical therapist is present within the same facility. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
