Description: The University of Illinois Hospital&Health Sciences System’s Hospital Pharmacy Services is seeking a full-time, motivated professional for the position of Pharmacy Technician II. Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician II will perform technical job functions and responsibilities which optimize safe and efficient medication preparation and delivery. UI Hospital Pharmacy is a fast-paced and dynamic environment which relies on the teamwork of its staff to provide the highest levels of patient care and service. Successful candidates will possess a “can do” positive attitude. The selected candidate will also have excellent problem-solving skills, understand the importance of reliability and punctuality within a team environment, multi-task well in a fast-paced setting while paying attention to details, appreciate working in a culturally diverse environment, and possess above-average computer and technology literacy skills. Performance of advanced pharmacy technical functions, record keeping, and training for UI Hospital Pharmacy Services under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. Duties&Responsibilities: Preparation of medication orders for unit dose and intravenous admixture Process medication reorders Distribution of medication Assists with the training of Pharmacy Technician Intern/Trainees, Pharmacy Technician I’s, and Pharmacy Externs Preparation of intravenous admixtures and other sterile products using aseptic techniques Compound and reconstitute drug products Demonstrate safe and effective handling of hazardous medication in preparation techniques and disposal Replenishing and maintaining the automated dispensing cabinet systems (Omnicell) Transportation of medications to patient care areas Assisting in the organization, and monitoring of pharmaceuticals and supplies Assisting with inventory control Maintaining a clean work environment, and fully participating in quality improvement initiatives Minimum Qualifications Required: Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the State of Illinois. Any one of the following that equals six (6) months: Successful completion of a formal training program in technical, non-professional pharmaceutical procedures and practices. Work experience in technical, non-professional pharmaceutical procedures and practices. One (1) year (12 months) of work experience as a pharmacy technician. Demonstrate experience with sterile compounding. Preferred Qualifications: One year experience working in a hospital pharmacy cleanroom.
