Schedule: Full Time and Part Time Openings Day, Evening and Night shift openings Certification Preferred General Summary Certified Pharmacy Technician I assists with preparation and distribution of medications. The Certified Pharmacy Technician I position requires specialized pharmacy education, training, and subsequent certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or comparable entity. The Certified Pharmacy Technician I role is eligible for advanced technician positions based upon job performance and successful completion of requirements for advancement established in the Pharmacy Technician Career Ladder criteria grids. Essential Functions: Pursuant to the needs and offerings of the hiring department, essential job accountabilities may include the following: Receives and stocks deliveries of pharmaceuticals and other supplies. Prepares, packages, and labels medications prior to dispensing. Delivers medications to care areas within the hospital. Delivers medications to off-site locations. Manages pharmacy inventory management, including use of electronic inventory management systems. Monitors product expirations and removing outdated stock from inventory. Responds to product recalls. Compounds non-sterile and sterile medication preparations. Cleans and disinfects procedures. Performs clerical duties such as answering telephones and maintaining adequate supplies. Identifies at least one area of specialized skill or expertise. Trains/mentors new pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns. Maintains sufficient additional criteria as outlined in the Pharmacy Technician Career Ladder criteria grids. Common Expectations: Provides outstanding customer service to all customers. Reasonable flexibility for occasional work outside of normally scheduled shifts based on the needs of the pharmacy department and the hospital.
