We have many opportunities for Patient Transport Drivers to join us throughout Berkshire. We are looking for volunteers who enjoy driving and ensuring patients in their community are able to access local hospitals to attend medical appointments by providing a friendly, safe, and reliable service. By joining our volunteer team, you are helping patients at an essential moment in their treatment, providing them with a reassuring arm and assisting them in a time of need. Peter has been a Patient Transport Volunteer with us for over 10 years - but why? "I started as a volunteer because I wanted to fill in some spare time, and 10 years on I now volunteer five days a week, seeing the same patients, meeting new patients, doing short journeys, doing longer journeys for all ages and I wouldn't change it Knowing I am helping my 'neighbours' and the NHS makes me very proud" We are looking for volunteers who can help us at a variety of times of day for as many hours as possible - and even on weekends. All we ask is that you have a five-door car, relevant insurances, and a clean driving license. Volunteer Role Patient Transport Volunteer Driver Volunteer Manager VCD Coordinator Where You Will Be Based Community Why We Want You Our Patient Transport Volunteers are an important part of our Patient Transport Services (PTS) at South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS). As a Patient Transport Volunteer, you will be helping people in your local community access non-emergency but vital medical appointments at hospitals. Making sure they arrive in a relaxed and friendly manner and taking them back to their home address sometimes after long treatment. You will join a growing team of Patient Transport Volunteers who enhance our patient care. You will use your own car, and the patients allocated to our Patient Transport Volunteers will be mobile but may need some help getting in and out of the car or to and from their appointment location.
