Blind Care Foundation, a Michigan non-profit company and a leading outsourced provider of talented diversified professional talent, is currently searching for an additional Paraprofessional Teaching Assistant for Southeastern Michigan territory. The Paraprofessional Teaching Assistant will assist the Special Education Teacher in providing academic and independent living skills instructions, developmental activities, and daily care of visually impaired children during the school day. Responsibilities Follow guidelines, goals and activities established for each child by the supervisor. Assist with physical and socialization needs of children. Exhibit constant concern for child's well-being and safety at all times. Assist children in activities of daily living toileting, feeding, personal hygiene, dressing and diapering. Assist in general orientation and mobility and other exercises under the direction of appropriate professional staff. Observe and guard children on field trips and swimming activities. Observe and assist in completing monthly reports regarding children's behavior and development for permanent file. Participate in staff meetings and assist in interpreting the program to parents and guests. Participate in curriculum and in-service meetings. Assist in keeping classrooms clean and orderly. Qualifications ESSA/NCLB Approved Para-professional Certificate. 2 to 3 years childcare experience. Ability to assist with lifting and transferring students with physical disabilities. Must be able to push wheelchairs as required. English and Mexican Spanish a plus.
