ALL SCHEDULED SHIFT HOURS WILL BE PAID This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). Schedule options below: 2 x 14 hr shifts 1 x 12 hr shift [40hrs] or 2 x 13 hr shifts 1 x 14 hr shift [40hrs]14 hr shift 5pm-7:30am (Mon to Fri only) 13 hr shift 6am-8pm (Sat&Sun only) 12 hr shift 7pm-7:30am (Sat&Sun only) 30-minute breaks at prearranged scheduled times for each shift. Coverage of other on-call anesthesia staff when needed, working as a team to cover all 7 nights and Saturday/Sunday daytime. The Position: The primary responsibility of the On-call Surgery Assistant is to provide overnight out-of-hours support for emergent cases through the surgery department, practicing the highest quality surgical support for the patients and team members. The position is primarily an on-call position and requires reporting to the hospital for emergent surgical/anesthetic cases. The Surgery Assistant needs to be able to appropriately handle critical and emergent cases with the team including the anesthetist, surgeon, and other on-call team members. Responsibilities include: Arrive at the hospital within 1 (one) hour of initial call. Demonstrate and model advanced surgical technical skills for emergent cases including, but not limited to, setup and breakdown of surgical spaces, equipment, and instrumentation management, identification, and troubleshooting. Possess anticipatory skills for anesthetist, surgeon, and other team members. Provide appropriate perioperative patient care. Handle arrest situations. Knowledge and ability to operate all equipment used in the surgery/anesthesia department. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of surgical exclusive experience. Must be a Certified Veterinary Technician to be hired as a Technician. WHY ANGELL? Qualifications Skills Preferred Advanced Education Required Associates or better in Veterinary Technology or related field. Experience Required Applicants must have technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, intubation, anesthesia, and CPR procedures. 3 years: Minimum of 3 years of experience in surgical services.
