Northern Light A.R. Gould Department: Operating Room Position is located: Northern Light A.R. Gould Hospital Work Type: Full Time Hours Per Week: 40.00 Work Schedule: No Hours Assigned Summary : The new hire Graduate Nurse (GN) must be a successful graduate of an accredited school of nursing and eligible to take the NCLEX exam for the first time. It is expected that the Authorization to Test document will be provided to the Hospital prior to hire. The Graduate Orientee will work under the supervision of a registered nurse until licensure has been verified by the Human Resources Department. Responsibilities: Engage in an intensive orientation program under the supervision of a registered nurse educator or preceptor. Shall be listed on the Maine CNA Registry. Schedule an exam date that falls within the first 45 days of employment. Disclose his/her test date to the Human Resources Department and Nurse Manager. Provide the results of his/her NCLEX exam to the Human Resources Department and Nurse Manager within one business day of receiving them. Attend all general orientation classes as determined by Northern Light Health Education Services. Perform approved tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse preceptor. Complete all required Health Stream modules within the first 30 days of hire. May not work as a Registered Nurse until the Hospital Human Resources Department has verified licensure. After licensure has been verified, assume the job description of an entry-level RN. A Graduate Orientee who does not pass the NCLEX examination may fill an open certified nursing position at the CNA rate of pay until they are able to pass the exam. All individuals will receive the same Graduate Nurse Salary rate based upon full-time employment, 36 hours per week, with shift differentials. Immediately upon passing the NCLEX, the title will change to Registered Nurse (RN) with full entitlement of compensation including shift differentials. Admit patients according to established guidelines. Assess patients' physical and psychosocial needs and implement a plan of care. Transcribe/implement physician orders in a timely and efficient manner. Assess patient/significant other education needs and provide instruction as appropriate. Participate in department quality improvement activities. Comply with mandated hospital and department education programs. Accept responsibility for professional growth and development.
