Medical Laboratory Scientist, Specialist I/Technologist Specialist I, Certified Job Category: Laboratory Scientist Requisition Number: MEDIC019817 Posted: November 14, 2024 Full-Time Rate: $33.37 USD per hour Locations Salt Lake City, UT 84108, USA Description Schedule: Thursday - Sunday (40 hrs/wk) 2:00 PM - 12:30 AM Training Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Primary Purpose: This position provides technical and non-technical support within the laboratory areas qualified. Functions include an expansive mastery of technical material and knowledge of high complexity tasks. This position spends 50% of their time performing laboratory testing and 50% providing technical and analytical support for Hematologic Flow Cytometry testing. Essential Functions: Performs all representative activities and accountabilities as defined by the Medical Laboratory Scientist Job Description. Performs assigned testing and verification duties as scheduled. Evaluates new procedures and updates existing procedures. Maintains continual compliance necessary to meet the standards of regulatory agencies. Performs assessment of peers performing testing. Functions in a designated leadership role with assigned responsibilities when supervisor is not available. Other duties as assigned. Technical Specialist: Monitors the standards of accuracy, precision, and efficiency in the performance of assays and/or the operation of equipment in a specialty area. Physical and Other Requirements: Stooping, reaching, mobility, effective communication, and PPE requirements in a biohazard laboratory environment. Qualifications Education Required: Bachelor's Degree or better in Medical Laboratory Sciences or related field. Experience Required: MLS (ASCP), MT(ASCP), MT (AAB), or applicable categorical ASCP or AAB certification. 2 years of high complexity clinical diagnostic testing experience. Preferred: ASCP Specialty certification or Score 80% or better on a written placement evaluation. Licenses&Certifications Required: Applicable ASCP or AAB certification.
