City/State Norfolk, VA Overview Work Shift First (Days) (United States of America) Sentara Medical Group is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant. We are offering up to a $5,000 sign-on bonus for qualified candidates, which requires a one-year commitment. Requirements for MA position: CMA or RMA with an accredited National Body High School Degree As a Medical Assistant with Sentara, you will work directly with a doctor conducting phlebotomy (lab), clinical, and clerical duties. This position's primary responsibilities include bringing patients into rooms, taking vitals, verifying patient information, and preparing them for the doctor. Join a team that has a mission to improve health every day and a vision to be the healthcare choice of the communities that we serve Job Summary Perform patient care-related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluation, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Perform administrative duties, as appropriate. Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Phlebotomy experience is preferred. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred. BLS required within 90 days of hire. Certification must be received within nine months of employment in one of the following certification programs: CCMA - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant CMA - Certified Medical Assistant RMA - Registered Medical Assistant EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Qualifications: HS - High School Grad or Equivalent (Required) Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) RQI Clinical/Administrative Experience Skills: Active Listening Reading Comprehension Service Orientation Speaking Technology/Computer Sentara Healthcare prides itself on the diversity and inclusiveness of its close to an almost 30,000-member workforce.
