Job Summary: The Medical Assistant will provide routine technical duties and assist with other related tasks involved in providing quality patient care and services directed toward restoration of health and wellness, and health promotion. This individual is responsible for aiding the on-site Provider with normal routine of the clinic activities. The Medical Assistant will obtain patient intake information and histories, ensure that consents have been signed, and respond to all patient request (i.e., prescription refills, etc.). All duties are structured in accordance with the Patent Centered Medical Home (PCMH). If bilingual must be privileged to translate. Duties and Responsibilities: Adhere to standard of care, processes, and protocols per type of patient visit Perform all vitals on every patient at every visit: height, weight, blood pressure, blood glucose, pulse, oxygen saturation, temperature, and respirations Direct patient to a clean available room, follow proper intake order while using proper terminology and maintaining accurate and confidential records (vitals, Veradigm, dashboard, exam form, and screenings) Present patient and report back to provider Assess immunization records and refer for immunization as needed to meet Department of State Health Services guidelines, while using appropriate stock Complete orders per standard of care or as documented in electronic health record by provider. (EKG, CLIA waived tests, lab draws, medication administration, vaccines, breathing treatment, fetal non-stress test, ear lavage, wound wrapping, FIT cards, referrals etc.) Gather needed supplies, equipment and set up as directed per standard of care or provider Assist providers with examination, procedures and treatments as directed. Create Referrals as ordered by provider Perform in-house testing using aseptic technique, document results and notify patient in timely manner: Flu, Strep, Mono, Covid, Cepheid, UPT, RSV Perform Hearing and vision Testing with documentation Ability to use Bi-directional interface with IMMTRAC to import vaccine records. Send Medication refill request through Veradigm to provider Ability to upload Medical Records in patient’s chart Placement of RTO’s in chart as directed by provider Ability to navigate crisis protocol Assist with interpretation as needed including verbal and written Inform site lead when inventory is low Participates in code response duties as assigned by site lead Discharge patient with instructions as defined by provider (review discharge instructions with site lead as needed) Upon discharge schedule patient for follow up visit chronic, acute, or well and verify pharmacy Assist patient in identifying barriers that may prevent them from completing their treatment Ensure rooms are cleaned after discharge and are always properly stocked.
