Nanuq, Inc. COMPANY OVERVIEW Nanuq Incorporated is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kuukpik Corporation. Nanuq is a heavy civil construction and oilfield support company operating in and around Nuiqsut, AK. Kuukpik Corporation was established in 1973 under the provisions of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA). It owns the surface rights to portions of the Colville River Delta, located 50 miles west of Prudhoe Bay. Kuukpik Corporation successfully negotiated a comprehensive surface-use agreement. This agreement established provisions for education, training, preferences in contracting, employment, and the environment for the village of Nuiqsut. LOCATION Nuiqsut Heavy and Light-duty mechanics report directly to the Nanuq Shop Foreman. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Perform maintenance and repairs on heavy duty equipment. Attend daily toolbox meeting. Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS Kuukpik Shareholder (or immediate family member of a shareholder) or Nuiqsut resident with knowledge, skill and experience to perform duties. 3 years prior experience working on heavy duty equipment such as loaders, graders, excavators, dozers, etc. Pass urinalysis (UA) pre-employment drug testing. Ability to lift 30 pounds repeatedly. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED. Two years of experience driving. A valid driver's license is required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times. TRAVEL REQUIRED None while on shift. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The laborer position is a full-time, seasonal position requiring up to 84 hours/week (up to 12 hours/day, 7 days/week) or more.
