Diesel Mechanic Summary description of job: Worker is responsible for preventative maintenance and light repairs of tractors, trailers and cars. Duties and Responsibilities - Maintain proficiency in the diagnostics and repair of all assigned equipment. - Assist senior technician in the completion of project work - Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and modifications to assigned equipment. - Read and comprehend service troubleshooting guides using OEM software - Maintain a basic level of skill in diesel after treatment, air brakes, electrical and lighting systems. - Perform daily yard checks - Perform safety and annual inspections in accordance with FMCSA regulations - Install, mount, and dismount tires - Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns during working hours as needed - Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with company/OSHA standards - Interact courteously and professionally with drivers, vendors, and other employees regarding vehicle repairs and shop business. - Assist in the completion of required documentation including vehicle write-ups, work orders, and timecards. - Weekend availability Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Basic level of mechanical knowledge - Attention to detail - Excellent time management skills - Ability to work with minimal supervision - Ability to follow multi-step directions - Ability to adapt to an ever-changing, fast-paced environment - Effective communicator with strong written and oral skills Special Requirements - Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent - Experience with OEM software is preferred - Brake certification in accordance with FMCSA § 396.25 required - Basic computer skills such as email and Word PId383fb170737-37156-36093463
