Anduril’s Materials Engineering team is seeking a Materials Engineer with a background in structural composites to join our rapidly growing team. Our team plays a pivotal role in advancing the materials that are at the heart of Anduril’s cutting-edge products, from autonomous systems to propulsion engines and advanced sensors. We aim to push the boundaries of what’s possible in defense technology, delivering innovative solutions in months, not years. As a Materials Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team where you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and optimization of materials for our revolutionary products. WHAT YOU’LL DO Assist in the development and testing of new materials to meet engineering and performance specifications. Participate in the characterization and analysis of composite materials using techniques such as nondestructive testing, mechanical testing, and failure analysis. Contribute to the selection of materials for various applications considering factors such as mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and manufacturability. Define test plans and process substantiation protocols, review and analyze data. Support the team in supplier development and qualification. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve material-related issues and improve product reliability. Engage in continuous learning to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in materials science and engineering. Document experimental procedures and results, and present findings to the team and stakeholders. Work closely with senior engineers and mentors to develop professional engineering skills and knowledge. Use first principles physics as a basis for every decision. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s or higher in Materials Science, Composites Engineering, or a related field. 3-5 years of materials science experience in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of materials processing and characterization techniques. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to apply engineering principles to practical applications. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges in a fast-paced environment. Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance as needed. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Hands-on experience with nondestructive testing and evaluation. Demonstrated ownership of a comprehensive material characterization effort. Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software and materials simulation tools. Working knowledge of composites manufacturing, design, and process substantiation. The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
