Job Description Job Description The Manager of Family&Community Services is responsible for the management, supervision, planning, coordination and implementation of all aspects of Family Services. This position reports to the Director of Programs and is a member of the MCS’ Management team. The ideal candidate will have supervisory and program administrative experience; experience providing direct service to economically and ethnically diverse populations; and possess knowledge and understanding of the multiple needs and barriers of individuals and families living in poverty. Creative thinking and problem-solving skills are critical, as is familiarity with compliance issues associated with county and state agencies, ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, managing grants and contracts. Duties and Responsibilities Leadership and Management · Collaborate with the Director of Programs to interview and hire department staff · Supervise staff (Community Social Workers, Community Resource Navigators, Intake Coordinator(s), and Social Work Interns, Family Services case managers.) to help them meet their objectives and attain goals, and identify opportunities and/or barriers related to job performance · Model, promote and direct compliance with agency Personnel Policy Code · Ensure staff participates in required agency and program-related trainings and development · Evaluate work performance, based on Annual Work Plan, of supervised staff and recommend compensation · Oversight of case management documentation, tracking, and billing. · Contribute to the overall leadership of the organization as a member of the Management Team · Create and encourage alliances and collaborations with other community service providers and organizations to better meet the needs and goals of participants and promote MCS · Represent MCS on community boards and at events as assigned in a supportive, positive manner · Participate in MCS fundraising events Program Design and Delivery · Assure quality delivery of family stabilization and crisis-related direct services through management and supervision · Ongoing case consultation to support Community Social Workers, Community Resource Navigators, Family Services case managers, Intake coordinator, Parent educator, and Social Work Interns. · Confirm, convey and enforce operational standards for county and/or state contracts and grants · Complete required and requested reports, evaluations, and summary analyses in a timely manner · Recruit, train, onboard and monitor department volunteers and interns · Create and encourage alliances and collaborations with other community service providers, to better meet the needs of participants and promote Merrick Community Services · Develop and monitor annual department budget · Maintain department data bases, accurate client records, and department receipts · Attend and serve on relevant community meetings and committees, as requested Direct Services to Program Participants · Promote programs, services, and events to eligible area residents and organizations. · Complete required and requested reports, evaluations and summary analyses in a timely manner · Promote and represent Merrick Community Services in a supportive and positive manner · Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in science, with a focus on Social Work, a combination of training and experience providing equivalent knowledge. Master of Social work preferred with 2-4 years Three-years of experience in Family Service Program delivery and/or a combination of years in related fields Working understanding of county/community-based services/programs that transition individuals and families out of poverty. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with and for diverse groups of people · Must be self-motivated, goal-oriented, possess strong interpersonal skills, and be team-oriented, good time management · Ability to model respectful, inclusive, and responsible behavior that is consistent with the agency mission · This position requires a valid Minnesota Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle to travel locally Working Conditions This position requires: · A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation · Ability to travel into the community to attend meetings · Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as needed The above statements are not intended to encompass all functions and qualifications of the position.
