Responsibilities University Behavioral Health of Denton is a private freestanding psychiatric hospital specializing in mental health and chemical dependency care. Shift: Full Time 7p-7:30a with rotating weekends Position Summary: The LVN performs under the direction of a Registered Nurse and Chief Nursing Officer in providing nursing care to assigned patients, utilizing basic understanding of psychiatric and personality disorders, administering medications, and other duties in the LVN scope of practice. Job Duties/Responsibilities: Take and record vital signs properly. Observe and document changes in patients' appearance, behavior and ability to work toward treatment plan goals. Communicate changes in patient’s condition to the provider and unit nurse. Report signs and symptoms of infection in patients to the Charge provider and unit nurse. Qualifications Education: Graduate from an accredited professional vocational/practical nursing program. Experience: Minimum one (1) year as a LVN in psychiatric nursing preferred. Licensure: Licensed to practice vocational/practical nursing from the State Board of Nursing. Additional Requirements: Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications, and CPR certification and successful completion of Handle with Care (HWC) including restraint and seclusion policies within 30 days of employment and prior to assisting in restraining procedures.
