Job Description Job Description Position Summary The Legal Assistant provides support to Partners and/or Associates with legal administrative tasks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Compose letters Transcribe dictation Correspond with clients Submit state and federal filings electronically Manage attorney calendars Prepare pleadings Schedule out of town trips and depositions Communicate with Judges, Court Officials, and outside counsel Open and sort mail Set up new client files and make time entries for attorneys in ProLaw Submit check requests Answer phone calls for multiple attorneys Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) High School Diploma or GED Prior experience in administrative and legal tasks is mandatory Must have strong knowledge of current state and federal electronic filing guidelines Experience with ProLaw software is preferred · Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and strong computer skills · Strong verbal and written skills · Organizational skills and attention to detail · Teamwork-willingness to help others when needed · Professionalism in the workplace Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is constantly (5-8 hrs./shift) required to talk or hear. The employee is constantly required to use hands or fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is constantly required to reach outward. The employee is frequently (2-5 hrs./shift) required to sit. The employee is occasionally (up to 2 hrs./shift) required to stand; walk; reach above shoulder; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
