This is a Temporary position budgeted for up to 11 months with no benefits. Under supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, provides support services to the H2O Quality Laboratory receiving samples and supplies, performing general laboratory maintenance activities, and basic laboratory procedures. Demonstrates a commitment and supports a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion. Position Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions Receive samples delivered by internal and external customers. Log samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Check-in septage haulers staff following laboratory protocols. Receive and check in supplies/chemicals following laboratory protocols. Calibrate small laboratory equipment. Prepare samples for analysis. Perform routine laboratory tasks such as preparing laboratory glassware, maintaining supplies, ordering supplies, obtaining certification documents for chemicals received, and preparing reagents/standards. Identify and properly dispose expired chemicals from the laboratory inventory. Prepare sample bottles/containers for proper collection of samples. May be deemed essential at any time. Perform other duties as assigned or required. Essential Skills and Experience Essential Competencies: Familiar with laboratory nomenclature. Possesses and demonstrates general organizational skills. Knowledge of the safe use, operation, and preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment. Ability to follow Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures. Experience with Microsoft Office applications. Minimum Education and Work Experience: High school diploma or GED. Or a combination of education and experience described above. Required Licenses/Certifications and Other Special Requirements: None. The work requires the ability to speak clearly and to see and hear clearly with or without correction. Work environment: Primary work is performed indoors in a standard office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is subject to frequent interruptions. This position may be required to field verify information using a GPS handheld. When working in the field, there is exposure to a variety of weather conditions, traffic and noise.
