Position: Interim Dean Students, Grades 9-12 Available December 2024 Cambridge Rindge&Latin School/Learning Community L Cambridge Rindge&Latin School Community: Cambridge Rindge&Latin School is a comprehensive high school divided into four Learning Communities designed to promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students. Honors courses are offered in all core classes (English, History, Mathematics, and Science); Advanced Placement (AP) courses are available to qualified students in grades 11 and 12. The mission of the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School is to provide a quality education to every student through rigorous, comprehensive, and personalized teaching and learning. The Opportunity: The Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (CRLS) seeks an Interim Dean of Students to join its caring and innovative community for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year. The Dean of Students will report directly to the Dean of Curriculum of Learning Community L and the school Principal. They will be responsible for overseeing all student services within the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School small learning community and will manage the day-to-day student interaction, discipline, and attendance. Key Responsibilities: Monitor attendance and student discipline. Provide concrete, sustained support for students whose academic achievement is at risk. Create semi-annual reports on student academic achievement within the learning community. Assist the Dean of Curriculum with their duties. Work with Dean of Students from each learning community to share data, strategies, and coordinate activities. Participate with CRLS Principal in hiring and evaluation of faculty and staff of their learning community. Initiate and supervise in-school opportunities/activities (sports teams, theater, music groups), recruit for, and supervise these activities. Your Skill Set: As the incoming Dean of Students, you will possess many, though perhaps not all, of the following characteristics and qualifications: Experience beyond management of student discipline. Ability to create and involve students in activities, with experience/understanding of processes for building small learning communities. Experience working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and parents. Clear written and oral communication skills. Master’s degree in education or higher. Minimum of five years of experience as a successful teacher and/or administrator, preferably in an urban secondary school setting. Significant experience in the development of curriculum and program and in collaborative professional development with adults. Required Massachusetts certification: Principal/Assistant Principal 9-12. Terms of Employment: This is a 40 hour per week, 11 month interim position.
