Reporting to the Director-Child Development Center, the Inclusion Aide-CDC assists children with diagnosed/suspected special needs to help ensure they are successful in an inclusive classroom setting. Working under guidance of teachers and classroom staff, the Inclusion Aide-CDC assists in providing for the personal care needs, health, and safety of children; monitors children’s behaviors and interactions; and helps facilitate classroom activities that support the inclusion of all children. Regular work attendance is a necessary and essential function. Performs related duties as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Curriculum&Assessment Provides instructional support for children with suspected/diagnosed disabilities; provides individualized learning experiences that support the general curriculum. Helps to maintain a classroom environment that is developmentally appropriate and meets the individual needs of children as mandated by federal, state, and local standards. Participates as a member of the teaching team in planning and implementing individual learning supports for assigned children. Supports enrollment process by assisting with potential observations and other screenings when appropriate. Assists teaching teams with gathering documentation on children’s progress towards achieving developmental goals and/or as part of the referral process. Facilitates classroom activities that support the inclusion of all children. Assists in providing for the health and safety of children. Monitors children’s behaviors and interactions. Parent Engagement Supports parents’ understanding of the referral process by explaining steps in the process and responding to questions. Partners with families to implement activities in the home that support IEP/IFSP goals, and other interim/implementation plans. Provides staff/parents with feedback on their child’s progress. Participates in family/child reviews based on assigned caseload of children with diagnosed disability. Trainings/Meetings Participates in trainings provided by funder. Attends staff meetings and prepares reports related to the special needs of children. Performs other duties as assigned, including acting as lead on special projects. Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Reports To Director-Child Development Center Direct Supervision None QUALIFICATIONS Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or related field. Paraprofessional Educator License required. Minimum of one year experience working with young children required, preferably in a Head Start center or Social Service agency. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered based on the applicant’s credentials. Courses and training in child development preferred. Experience in an inclusive or special education setting preferred. Good communication skills with ability to interact effectively with parents and staff. Ability to work with special needs children and address their mental health challenges. Must be able to physically interact and help children with personal care needs, with the ability to move and carry up to 40 pounds. Ability to follow as directed child development and early childhood principles and practices. Ability and willingness to work in a program located in a high-risk, low-income community. Must be able to frequently sit, stand and bend at the knee and waist, and walk around the classroom. Must be able to work well within a culturally diverse environment with the ability to handle situations with tact and diplomacy. Moderate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
