Job Title: Associate Language Instructor Location: Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA - 98433 US Category: Education Job Description: Associate Language Instructor will assist the 1st Special Forces Command with web-based, Distance Learning (DL) foreign Language, Regional Expertise, and Cultural (LREC) instruction and LREC program support services. Specific duties may include, but are not limited to: Provide tailored and modular web-based language instruction to improve foreign language speaking and listening skills, increasing ACTFL or Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) scores by 1/2 a point or more. Provide web-based instruction in listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills, as well as regional and culture subjects, using modern communicative methodology. Execute ad hoc tutoring sessions based on student requirements and teach language curriculum based on designated POI. Teach on the spot upon contact with the student based on interest and levels varying from ILR 0 - 3, take attendance, and develop weekly progress reports. Review, correct, and grade daily homework and provide feedback to students. Maintain a positive and professional web-based learning environment and address student behavior/attendance concerns. Collaborate with Site Lead, POI analyst, or Language Instructional Developer to address student and curriculum gaps. Job Requirements: Required Qualifications: Access to a computer, webcam, headset with microphone, and wired high-speed internet connection. Phone capable of sending and receiving SMS text notifications. Experience in language and cultural education. Measurable past performance in improving students' speaking and listening capabilities. Thorough understanding of customs and cultural components of the target language. Native or near-native language capability. Practice customs and culture common to the target language. English Language Qualifications: Formal study of the English Language with scores as follows: At least ILR level 2 as measured by DoD test. Score of 553 on TOEFL PBT, or TOEFL iBT score of at least 83 overall. Score of no less than 82 on the English Comprehension Level (ECL) test. At least proficiency level 2 or Advanced-Low (ACTFL) on an OPI. Target Language Qualifications: General professional proficiency in the specified foreign language (ILR level 2 or ACTFL Advanced-High). Proficiency demonstrated by OPI or an interview certified by ACTFL. Desired Qualifications: Experience using online platforms, such as CL-150 or Blackboard. J-18808-Ljbffr
