Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Analyst to join their institutional division finance team in California. This is a 3-month contract role with the potential for extension or conversion to a permanent position. The position follows a hybrid schedule with three days onsite and two days remote weekly. This role is critical to supporting the year-end close process and ongoing financial operations, with the potential for long-term conversion. The FP&A Analyst will work closely with a dynamic and growing team, delivering high-quality financial planning, forecasting, and reporting while supporting newer team members. Responsibilities: Prepare timely and accurate financial forecasts, projections, and analyses to provide actionable insights into business performance. Analyze and report financial and operational results, offering comprehensive insights to support decision-making. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop quarterly business analytics and management reports. Manage divisional budgets and expense allocations, ensuring compliance with policies and resource optimization. Assist in refining expense management processes and conducting the division’s annual expense assumptions study. Play a key role in year-end close activities, analyzing and reporting on financial results. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members as needed. Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and presentations for senior management. Participate in cross-functional projects, including new business development and product analysis. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field required. 7 years of experience, ideally blending public and private accounting/finance expertise. Strong understanding of financial statements and business performance drivers. Proven ability to develop projections, perform analytics, and prepare executive-level financial reports. Experience in the insurance industry or FP&A roles preferred. Proficiency with tools such as Hyperion Planning (EPBCS), OAC, PCMCS, Essbase/Smartview, Power BI, and wDesk. Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
