Job Description

Operate complex and specialized heavy construction equipment and provides on-site first line supervision on more complex roadway projects. May be assigned resources to manage and complete smaller projects given only general direction by the project supervisor. Operates specialized heavy equipment. Works with citizens, vendors and city inspectors. Trains fellow employees in the operation of heavy equipment. Ensures safety of worksite for operators and the traveling public. Performs all other related duties as assigned. NOTE: You must fill out the work history and education sections of application to show you have years of experience/education as required by hiring department or be disqualified. High school diploma, GED or equivalent AND four (4) full-time years of related experience. OR Eight (8) full-time years of related experience may substitute for a high school diploma/GED. A Class A CDL is required upon hire, and a tanker endorsement is required within thirty (30) days of hire. Must have the ability to lead a construction crew, thorough knowledge of road construction and specialized operations. Must have the ability to organize, plan, and make decisions. (THE SELECTED CANDIDATE(S) FOR THIS POSITION MUST TAKE AND PASS A PRE-PLACEMENT PHYSICAL EXAMINATION AND DRUG TEST) If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing. Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.
