Job Description Job Description Major utility company in downtown Detroit is looking for a contract Project Engineer with experience in Facilities Management to join their team This long-term contract role (possibility for extension or direct hire for the right candidate) offers a starting pay rate of $43/hour. Position Summary : Our client is seeking a contract engineer to support the transfer of investment planning activities to the project engineering team, focusing on resolving project backlog. This role includes both onsite (Tues-Wed-Thurs) and remote (Mon-Fri) work arrangements, providing an excellent pathway for evaluating external talent for potential full-time consideration. Key Responsibilities : Conduct engineering design evaluations and oversee projects to meet budget and schedule constraints. Ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance with industry policies and regulatory requirements. Analyze production, malfunction, and maintenance reports to identify and resolve issues. Offer technical support throughout the engineering process, following established guidelines and procedures. Requirements Qualifications : Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (any discipline). Experience : 3-7 years in one or more of the following sectors: Energy and Utilities : Power generation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, energy storage. Oil and Gas : Refining, drilling, exploration. Infrastructure : Municipal utility, wastewater treatment, roads, bridges, waterways. Industrial : Facilities maintenance, commercial construction with major contractors, or chemical processing in a heavy industrial setting. Project Scope : Experience managing projects valued at $500,000. Skillset : Knowledge of project and construction management, with experience in projectized work environments. Preferred Qualifications : Professional Engineer (PE) license in Michigan. Project Management Certification : PMP or CAPM.
