Who We Are: Our Fuels and Lubricants Research Division has expertise in Engine Oil Tests; join an engineering team that supports gasoline and diesel engine crankcase oil testing activity. Objectives of this Role: Facilitate engine oil tests in SwRI's engine dynamometer test laboratory. Interact with clients to ensure that their goals are being met. Develop project plans and procedures and communicate them effectively to the laboratory staff. Develop new capabilities in response to client needs and be forward thinking in what is next in lubricant testing. Write test reports, proposals, and internal procedures. Obtain leadership roles within the ASTM forums that govern the standardized test types that are conducted. Daily and Monthly Responsibilities: Perform lubricant testing predominately in engine dynamometer facilities; maintain working relationships with clients in accomplishment of project objectives. Develop innovative solutions to project problems and expand laboratory capabilities; provide project leadership. Use engineering practices to ensure test quality and test procedure compliance; plan, coordinate and control assigned project; develop and report technical and financial details to clients and management; resolve a variety of engineering issues related to testing. Communicate effectively with clients and staff, summarize test data and complete written reports; interact with laboratory and staff during project activity; interface with support groups in handling contractual, legal, accounting, fabrication and purchasing requirements. Market SwRI services to current and prospective customers. Write and present technical papers as needed to further SwRI mission. Field phone calls as needed after hours, as laboratories run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Requirements: Requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. 0-5 years: Must have relevant internships. Strong Communication Skills, Teamwork is essential for SwRI project leaders. Must be willing to work part of the day hands on in laboratory environment with noise, heat, oil, fuel, humidity, etc. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
