Job Summary The Transport Engineer II will be a part of a team of engineers responsible for supporting all aspects of the Comcast optical network in the Central Division. Job Description Core Responsibilities Office locations include Atlanta, GA, Jacksonville, FL, Lansing, MI, Plymouth, MI and Oak Brook, IL. The selected candidate will report into the Oakbrook, IL office (2001 York Road, Oakbrook, IL 60523) through March 31, 2025. Effective April 1, 2025, the selected candidate will report to the Schaumburg, IL office (1475 Woodfield Road, Schaumburg, IL 60173). Provides subject matter expertise for all Central Division transport networks and NMS’s. Engineer II responsible for all aspects of network support for 24 x 7 on call. Project management including creating BOMs, initiating shipping and tracking of optical equipment. Inventory management of optical equipment. Designing, provisioning and test and turn up of new transport circuits in alignment with Central Division process and standards. Maintaining circuit descriptions and other information in transport NMS’s as well as static documents. Engineer II responsible for providing technical and analytical guidance to the XOC and regional systems. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Responsible for hardware configuration and troubleshooting. Expertise with commonly used technologies (e.g. Waver services, optical networking). Strong organizational skills. Proficient in Excel. Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance. Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
