Job Description - Emergency Management Coordinator (240002TF) Description Under general supervision of the Exec. Director of Accreditation, Licensure&Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Safety&Emergency Management, the Emergency Management Coordinator will collaborate with other departmental leaders and teams to implement organization-wide emergency preparedness activities. Responsibilities include: Contributing to emergency P&P updates, supply inventory management, and attending DC Health and Emergency Coalition Meetings. Inputting data for Children's National into citywide and federal databases. Collaborating with the Emergency Preparedness Manager to develop the annual cornerstone curriculum and designing training materials. Participating in internal departments and external agencies to produce effective emergency plans, policies, and procedures. Conducting training exercises to test and implement improvements. Consulting with clinical staff regarding emergency preparedness and mitigation issues. Maintaining current knowledge of applicable regulations including the Joint Commission, FEMS, FEMA, NIMS, and other emergency management regulations. Establishing and maintaining relationships with community and healthcare agencies. Coordinating with stakeholders to ensure emergency preparedness activities through the DC Emergency Healthcare Coalition. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or Emergency Management is required. (Required) Master's Degree (preferred) Minimum Work Experience: 1 year developing scenarios for tabletop exercises and drills (Preferred) 1 year experience with hazardous material PPE and management of CBRNE, DECON, and RAD inventory (Preferred) Required Licenses and Certifications: HAZWOPER 40-HR (Preferred) FEMA ICS 100, IS 200, IS 700, IS 800 (Preferred) Required Skills/Knowledge: Expert knowledge of Joint Commission EC and EM Standards, FEMA CBRNE Response guidance, and Active Shooter Mitigation and Response. Proficient in computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.). Analytical skills necessary to resolve complex emergency situations. Functional Accountabilities Service/Safety Program Disseminate safety-related information to department heads. Assist departmental leaders in prioritizing emergency-related activities. Develop new emergency preparedness programs. Conduct trainings and develop evaluation tools. Database Management Maintain databases for vaccinations, drills, and trainings. Track preventive maintenance of department equipment. Meetings Represent the department at various organization-wide meetings. Summarize outcomes of meetings for departmental leadership. Organizational Accountabilities Communication Serve as a liaison with departments and external customers. Write After Action Reports to summarize drill outcomes. Customer Service Anticipate and respond to customer needs. Teamwork/Communication Demonstrate collaborative behavior and receptivity to others' ideas.
