We are searching for an experienced Distribution Center Manager at our Chicago facility. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: D&H Distributing is seeking a dedicated Distribution Center Manager based in Bolingbrook, IL. This position works with a diverse group of co-owners - ESOP company so our “employees” are all co-owners of the company This role leads a team of co-owners to ensure that all our customers receive outstanding service. This position is also responsible for ensuring hard deadlines are met in a fast-paced and high-intensity environment. This role will provide leadership, management, and effective communication to both customers and employees, while meeting operational and financial objectives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains receiving, warehousing and distribution operations by initiating operational and personnel policies and procedures. Utilize key metrics and reports to drive business decisions throughout the Distribution Center, including workplace staffing and other resource allocation. Responsible for creating and maintaining the culture of the facility through hands-on leadership and effective communication including setting the site strategy and vision. Ability to meet strict time frames in environments with zero tolerance for failure. Ability to drive operational performance at the site level with a particular focus on productivity, quality, and cost. Safeguards warehouse operation and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols. Oversee the P&L, working to financial goals as well as monitoring for risks or opportunities. Complies with federal, state and local safety, warehousing, material handling and shipping requirements by enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions. Controls inventory accuracy by conducting physical counts; reconciling with WMS. Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement. Leads the warehouse staff via coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results. Develops and manages to fiscal budget, including the proposal of cost saving measures and new programs to further the efficiency of the operation. Ability to interact and build strong relationships with internal and external customers. Excellent organizing, prioritizing, multi-tasking, product management and problem-solving skills with a strong sense of urgency. A hands-on management approach that encourages change and creative problem solving. Ability to work well in a fast-paced and high-intensity environment. Excellent communication and analytical skills. Minimum Requirements: 5-10 years in a Leadership capacity with experience in: Warehouse and Logistics operation Safety Management Development and strengthening of the Operational management team Developing standards and establishing KPIs Knowledge of WMS system Conveyor automation oversight Managing and Improving Processes Effective Inventory Control Customer Relations Reporting Skills Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Able to travel about 10% of the time throughout the US and Canada Preferred but not required: Past WMS (or other significant IT) implementation Technology integration Warehouse reconfiguration Our company provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics.
