Job Description Summary: In support of Draper’s mission to solve our Nation’s most challenging problems, we are seeking senior mechanical design engineers focused on electromechanical and electrooptical system design for high-reliability and extended mission life. This role is initially focused on strategic-grade IMU and navigation aiding system development. The candidate will be required to perform and/or oversee mechanical design and development for ruggedized, highly-reliable electro- and optomechanical systems capable of surviving harsh environments (e.g. high-g, high temperature, high vibration). Duties/Responsibilities: • Independently drive solutions to complex, multidisciplinary problems with a deep understanding of a customer's strategic priorities. • Assist customers with shaping their needs and developing requirements for programs that solve their most challenging technical problems. • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in mechanical design with broad knowledge across related technical disciplines. • Contribute to advancing State of the Art (SOA) solutions and techniques in the design of mechanical hardware. • Analyze Draper strategy and work with management to build capability in key areas to help sustain business growth. • Perform other duties as assigned.
