Marana Main Health Center, Marana, Arizona, United States of America Job Description Posted Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 9:00 AM MHC Healthcare is seeking a Director of Accounting and Finance to join the Finance team at the Marana Main Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, AZ. The Director of Accounting and Finance manages the budget details, cost controls, financial reporting, financial analysis, and accounting procedures and supervises the accounting team. MHC Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 14 sites in Tucson and Pima County. The following qualifications are required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field 5 years’ experience in leading multifunction accounting teams 10 years’ experience in accounting, with work in AP, AR, general ledger, month end close, board reports and financial analysis The following qualifications are preferred: Master’s degree in accounting or finance Non-profit accounting experience Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license Experience in adding AI and workflow improvements Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job. This position has the following supervisory responsibility: Supervises and monitors performance for an assigned group of employees. Supervisory duties include hiring and disciplinary actions, overseeing work assignments and quality, scheduling and timekeeping, performance evaluations, and training and development. The ideal candidate will also possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Ability to present financial information to management. Strong knowledge of accounting innovation and best practices around automation and use of technology to enhance daily operations. Knowledge of finance, accounting, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Computer proficient, to include Microsoft Office applications and exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong spreadsheet preparation, interpretation, and analytical skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills with emphasis on responsiveness, building trust, mutual respect, and courtesy. Ability to cultivate a culture of respect and service excellence through professionalism, skilled communication, and demonstrated commitment to integrity, trust, respect, and equity. Duties and Responsibilities: Provides oversight for accounts payable, general ledger, financial systems, payroll, travel, and accounting. Prepares financial statements, which provides the Board of Directors, management and other related third parties with reliable, current information on which they can make informed and effective decisions. Provides strategic review of accounting and finance operations to identify areas of opportunity and collaborates with leadership to gain critical understanding of financial operations. Provides comprehensive support of company budget preparation, including needs assessment with senior managers, prioritization of budget needs, analysis of budget requests, review of budget data, drafting of budget package, and collaboration with HR staff regarding position controls and vacant position analysis. Assists with budget control by monitoring budgeted versus actual financial performance, analyzing monthly budget results, and preparing manager and Board of Directors reports. Develops models, procedures, and protocols for reporting in concert with company goals. Provides support to executive management, departmental managers, and clinicians in the preparation, understanding, and use of financial information, and assists the organization towards its goal of improving cost-effectiveness of health care delivery. Manages and supervises staff to include coaching, mentoring, training, resolving conflicts, and ensuring accurate and timely work is produced. Ensures information systems capture financial information required by third party payers, grantors, and other external sources. Represents MHC by promoting programs and contributing to community functions. Meets with CFO on a regular basis to provide updates on staffing projects and other essential reporting as appropriate. Prepares computerized monthly Financial Statements, including Trial Balance and supplemental schedules. Reviews financial statements for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting to CFO for final review. Analyzes revenue and expense accounts for monthly budget variances and provides explanations with Financial Statements. Maintains and manages accounting systems and continually reviews and recommends opportunities for improvements in systems, processes, and reporting. Continually reviews and monitors internal controls of the company. Maintains the Finance Department Policies and Procedures. Assists with fiscal year-end planning, tasks, and reporting requirements, including audit preparation. Performs site/department revenue/expense variance analysis as needed. Participates in reviewing and monitoring compliance with MHC contracts, policies, and procedures; ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Participates in the preparation of annual budget, reports for Grantee and Governmental agencies (including the Medicare Cost Report, Uniform Data Systems and the Annual AHCCCS Reconciliation), and other miscellaneous projects.
