Data Analyst Position Overview: We are looking for a detail-oriented Data Analyst with expertise in data quality and business intelligence to support our data systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of databases, ETL processes, and data validation techniques. This role involves assessing data quality, creating and executing test cases, and collaborating with development teams to ensure data integrity and performance. Key Responsibilities: Quality Assurance: Develop and execute test plans and cases to identify issues in data systems. ETL Testing: Validate ETL processes to ensure accurate data extraction, transformation, and loading. Reporting: Test reports and dashboards using tools such as Cognos and Tableau. Data Validation: Perform quality checks to verify the accuracy and completeness of data. Automation: Create and maintain automated testing scripts for data validation and ETL processes. Collaboration: Work with Data Engineers, Developers, and Business Analysts to understand requirements and resolve data quality issues. Defect Tracking: Log and report defects, collaborating with development teams for resolution. Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of test plans and procedures. Compliance: Ensure data processes meet departmental standards. Qualifications: Strong SQL skills and experience with data warehousing concepts. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; familiarity with XML is a plus. Understanding of data warehouse structures, including star schemas, tables, and dimensions. Experience with report writing in tools like Cognos is preferred; knowledge of Tableau or Power BI is a plus. Ability to analyze data in relation to business requirements. Previous experience in a technology-focused environment is a plus. Skilled in designing and executing test scripts and scenarios. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to new technologies. Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work independently. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Computer Science) preferred. Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. A total of 5 years of relevant technology experience is preferred. Location: This is a remote position, with expectations for monthly in-person meetings for local candidates.
