We are currently looking to expand our leadership team by adding a Controller to our financial department. Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller provides direction and leadership for YMCA accounting and business operations, oversees accounting practices, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of its financial reports. Ensures a system of strong internal controls and maintains fiscal soundness. Coordinates the annual external audit, annual budget, and the preparation of information for outside funders. Works proactively with CFO and leadership team on analysis and financial projections. Education&Experience Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent. Possess or working towards an Accounting Designation, such as Certified Public Accountant preferred. Five years of experience or more in a supervisory accounting role. Experience in a nonprofit environment preferred. Knowledge of internal controls. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Advanced ability to develop and use spreadsheets and standard business software systems. Effective communicator as well as strong interpersonal, research, and organizational skills. Strong business analytical skills and business acumen. Ability to work as a team member, to relate to other employees in a positive manner, emphasizing cooperation and teamwork. Ability to work with all levels of the Association, display leadership skills and articulate steps to meet deadlines and reporting requirements. Ability to think critically and problem-solve at a high level. Key Focus Areas Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates accounting personnel. Develops, prepares, and provides workpapers to outside auditors during yearly financial audit. Manages and assists with preparation of annual budget and quarterly estimates. Ensures timely, accurate preparation of monthly journal entries, financial statements, bank reconciliations, and GL account reconciliations. Analyzes and maintains records on all association transactions. Develops, coordinates, and maintains association chart of accounts to include new accounts, PCS codes, branches, and/or centers. Develops and implements accounting policies and internal controls. Develops and implements new accounting-related initiatives. Designs and implements practices, processes, and procedures for strong fiscal management. Maintains an accounting system to accomplish the proper recording and reporting of all operations, transactions, assets, and liabilities of the YMCA for all funds. Maintains records and prepares various internal and external reports, including reports for various federal and state agencies. Assists in preparation of the IRS Form 990 tax return. Coordinates and supervises operating cash flow management. Assists CFO with projects as needed. Assume all other responsibilities as deemed necessary or assigned. COMPENSATION&BENEFITS The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth offers a competitive salary and benefits package for selected candidates. The yearly salary range for this position is $75,000 - $93,000 and will be commensurate with the selected candidate's experience. The YMCA provides competitive health, dental, and vision benefits.
